Pluto's Christmas Tree // A Waltz Through Disney
Pluto’s Christmas Tree (1952)
Starring: Pluto, Chip ‘n Dale and Mickey Mouse
Cameos by: Goofy, Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse
Plot: After Mickey chops down a Christmas Tree and brings it home, Pluto tries to alert the mouse to the pair of mischievous chipmunks who have made residence in the tree.

Stocking Stuffers:
Chip’s (black nose) role as the more serious, leader type is on display as he bops the clumsier and dimmer Dale (red nose, buck teeth) over the head after he inadvertently breaks an ornament over Chip’s head.

Chip ‘n Dale appear almost exclusively in shorts as foils to Donald Duck and Pluto.

As he is in the later shorts, Mickey is in full on suburban, straight man role.

Goofy, Donald and Minnie appear as carolers singing “Deck the Halls.”  Chip n’ Dale and Pluto also join in to sing.

Putting a Bow on It:
Poor Pluto… as the lone, non-anthropomorphic animal in the cast, he has an awful time trying to communicate to Mickey that their Christmas Tree is infested with a couple of rabblerousing rodents.  Of course, we can always count on Mickey to invoke the Holiday Spirit in bringing together both Pluto and the Chipmunks to celebrate Christmas together.
