24 Days of Waltzmas, Day 13: The Clock Watcher // A Waltz Through Disney
The Clock Watcher (1945)
Starring: Donald Duck
Setting: Royal Bros. Department Store

Plot: Donald takes a seasonal job wrapping gifts in the bowels of a New York City department store.

Stocking Stuffers:

Donald’s shift begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

I can’t remember Disney ever making a Tex Avery reference before but that’s exactly what they did when Donald passes the female mannequin and does the iconic wolf howl.

Putting a Bow on It:
I’d like to think The Clock Watcher is a prequel of sorts to Toy Tinkers (1949) where the extra money Donald earned at this job allowed him to afford all the presents he had under the tree in the aforementioned short.  Of course, this is all wild speculation on my part in an effort to create more weight to an otherwise simple story of Donald trying to wrap gifts while also contending against an obnoxious disembodied voice.
