Shade #6: Mr. Duck Steps Out (1940)
Starring: Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Hewey, Dewey and Louie
Setting: Daisy’s House

Plot: Donald attempts to have a date with Daisy all whilst his nephews try every which way to salt his game.

Box of Chocolates:
This is Daisy’s first appearance as well as official notice of her supplanting Donna as Donald’s one, and only, love interest.

Daisy’s voice sounds just as intelligible as Donald and Donna’s. It would later be changed to be more clear and feminine.

Donald don’s a snazzy hat and jacket combo in lieu of his tried-and-true sailor suit.  He’s even wearing spats - he’s like a 1940s hipster!

That dance Donald and Daisy engage in is the Jitterbug.

The Morning After:

I can’t remember ever seeing Donald this calm and reserved. This is early on in Donald and Daisy’s relationship though and it’d be fair to posit that he’s on his best behavior (as all men are when they first start dating a woman).  It’s also no mistake that his dearth of tantrums also result in one of Donald’s more successful endeavours.  In fact, Donald is almost Mickey-esque as things actually end on a high note with Daisy approvingly attacking him with kisses.
