This week was a bit of a time challenge because we covered two fantastic classics. In the past, I have had a couple of weeks of preparation to really figure out what I wanted to paint/draw. For The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, we had decided to cover these while we were in the middle of Bambi week. So if you do the math, that gave me about five days to watch both stories and work out some ideas. Now, I am not one to back away from a challenge! I love pushing myself to get the certain quality of work done by a deadline (that's really why I secretly love collaborating on this blog). So here they are! Three pieces for this week's classics. The first (above) is an acrylic painting of a manic Mr. Toad. "Mr. Toad's Mania" pretty much sums up the flawed protagonist in this short film. This painting is on a piece of wood and stands upright by itself. Pretty cool to add some color to an office desk and/or fireplace mantle! The second is Ichabod versus the headless horseman. It started out as a sketch (which was revealed via our Instagram feed), and later, digitally worked into what you see below. The final piece is the banner for this week. I wanted to link both classics so I have displayed a very smug Mr. Toad hanging out with confused, fiery jack-o-latern.
